My vision is now a reality as we teach churches and food pantries the concept of a missional food pantry. Even more so when we opened the former Starbucks store as a Drive-thru Missional Food Pantry. Partners, donors, and new supporters joined in to launch this initiative in a month!
Pre and Grand Opening
In less than a week, we did several events – Prayer Walk, Ribbon-cutting and Pre-Grand Opening where we served 93 households. At the Grand Opening last Saturday, we served 120+ households including walk-ins and a few deliveries. We also gave flowers to all the women for Mother’s Day! The most important part was 21 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior!

We had volunteers from at least 10 different churches and some employees from different companies. A Special Thank You to Fox59, CBS4, WRTV6 and WTHR13 plus several publications and radio stations.
Giving Tuesday Food Drive and Drive Thru Prayer
Yesterday, we did our first Giving Tuesday Food Drive (every Tuesday except the 3rd Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm) and at least 7 people came to donate nonperishable items. One person donated cash! Simultaneously, we also did drive-thru Prayer. The Drive-thru Prayer is every Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm.
How You Can Help
This innovative yet simple approach to engage the entire community is gaining a lot of momentum. A couple who came said, “We are glad that FHL created this opportunity for a community food drive.” Now, that’s a food pantry by the community, for the community! We are creating a “missional community.”
So, whether you want to purchase groceries and deliver them to us or want to Donate financially and visit our newest missional food pantry, come on Giving Tuesdays and we will be honored to pray for you as well.
FYI, the FHL Drive-thru Missional Food Pantry is open every Saturday from 10 am to 11:30 am (a household can come once a month). This is why we need 4-5 pallets of groceries on a weekly basis and we cannot do this without your prayers and support.

If you would like to volunteer, I suggest attending our 90-minute Orientation/Training offered every Monday and Wednesday from 6 pm to 7:30 pm at 6706 E. 82nd St. Indianapolis, IN 46250. You will have more insight into a “Missional Food Pantry” model.
